Poor tailor & the dress

Once there was a poor tailor, who desired to make a magnificent dress for the wealthy aristocrat who would bypass his shop daily to social functions. But the measurements of the royal blood are considered a secret in the society culture, only the royal dressmaker can have the information. Hence, being just a lay tailor down the street, he did not have the privilege of her measurements. So, as the royal pass his shop everyday, he would observe her, getting an estimate of the measurements.

After some estimation, he set to work on the dress. Fueled by his passion, he indeed managed to make a dress fitting for a queen. Hence, he is proud of his craftsmanship. However, he still needed to catch the royal’s attention. So, he hanged the dress at the window, hoping to catch her attention one day. On the first day, she did not notice the dress. Subsequent days were not promising either. Holding on to the hope that one day his dress would be noticed, he waited patiently.

Days of anticipation finally paid off. The aristocrat finally saw the dress fitting of her. Followed by a delegate of attendants, she walked into the humble shop, wanting to try the dress. After trying it on, the measurement was close to perfect. However, being a royal, everything calls for perfection. So, though she liked the dress, she could not make any decisions. The humbled tailor pleaded for her to allow him chance to create a perfect fit, hoping that the royal would include the dress in her wardrobe collection. The royal allowed. 1 week later, the royal came back to try the dress, but still adjustments are still needed.

The time taken for such adjustments can be long. It ranges from a few days to years, or even a lifetime. Acknowledging that, the tailor was determined to work on the adjustments. Will the royal allow her actual measurement to be taken?? Will she acknowledge the effort of the tailor??

TeArS

A friend of mine shared with me about her friend's dream.....
She dreamt that she was crying about something, longing for comfort from someone... Suddenly, the LORD appeared to her, putting his hands over her... Giving her all the love he could give... Then, something awesome happened.... Her shed tears was transformed into golden beatles, flying away from her, bringing away all the sadness and grieve...

The psalmist mentioned in Psalm 56:8 (New Living Translation) 'You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.' This verse really shows us how much our creator cares about us, like a father loving the child... Have you ever wonder how much God is concerned for us when we are sad??

Also Jesus is the testimony of how much our heavenly creator cares for ue, that He 'so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.' John 3:16 (NIV) Hence, as a child of God, we are bestowed 'a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.' Isaiah 61:3 (NIV).... Sorrows can no longer have mastery over us.....

In conclusion, I would like to leave with you the 1st 2 lines of the song: What a friend we have in Jesus:
What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!

TPJC SSC Sea carnival heats

15/05/06

“Paddles up, GO!!!” Do these commands bring back sweet memories of the days of Kallang River as a 17 and 18 year old student? The TPJC Sea Carnival has been a biennial event and recently, an annual event. A few of the alumni went down to check if anything has really changed since the Sea Sports Club has been disbanded this year.

For the first time in the history of TPJC's sea carnival, the event is not run by Sea Sports Club. Instead, the HOD of PE decided to have a go at organizing and managing the whole event. And as we observed from the powerboat driven by same old Mr Chew, things seemed to run pretty well, that's if one isn't comparing it to previous Sea Carnivals.

The familiar war cries of those rowing the dragonboat with all their might, and also the giggles of those merely splashing water in the same event, all bring a certain sense of nostalgia in us. So do the screams of capsized victims and cries of foul play from the unfortunate canoeists turned swimmers. Unwillingly and perhaps unknowingly, some of them became photo-evidence that sea tragedies do happen even in the calm waters of Kallang River.

On the whole, a Sea Carnival without a Sea Sports Club was indeed very different. When planning and running of the event switches hands from competent students to possibly overworked teachers, things did not seem to run as smoothly, and there is a lack of a Sea Sports Spirit to liven up the whole atmosphere.

In the words of our founding father, “Everyone thinks the sea sports club had an easy time coordinating the sea carnival. Now that we're gone, and something goes wrong, they know how difficult it actually is.” I will let this statement be a reflection of the importance of our club in maintaining a lively and well coordinated (now) annual event.

AcRoss the CoursewaY

Went with geri, ben and jon to jb to visit Jia Wen... We travelled around in Jia Wen's car and went to have bak kut teh for lunch.... It only costs us rm7 each, which is 3.5sing. ...eXtremeLY cheap.

After that went permas jaya for go-karting.... In the go-kart course, Geri sweared off-course into the PIT!!!. The guy working there saved her ... Jon had a little "spin" while trying to catch up with mE... no skill Jon... haha... It was only a 10mins..... and it cost RM30!!

After that we went jusco. .. Wanted to watch movie at first, but instead went to redbox ktv(sounds like the immitation of K-box)....According to Jia Wen's blog...

'Everyone got high after a while. Especially justin! he was practically yelling all the way.' (Wonder if i was really that high...)

'The best time was when we sang "Ai Ni yi Wan Nian" haha....we din sing that song actually. ...We just went "ai ni yi wan nian, ai ni yi wan nian, ai niyi wan nian..." all the time for about 20 secs.... It was crazy. The whole room was shaking. Then for finale we had season in the sun and fianl countdown...Woo!! super high n nice... We sang, cheered, laughed, had fun. It was really enjoyable...'

Then after a tiring session of ktv, we went for seafood dinner at mega ria. We were all exhausted after the ktv, so by the time we reached there, we were starving like hell. The food came quite quickly... Think they have prepared the food beforehand... Anyway.. the dinner was apparently very filling...

After that, went back to Jia Wen's house and go back to mY HOMELAND.....

Heres the pic 'Stolen' from Jia Wen's blog... hahaa

sObA~~~~!!!!

err.... chewing gum is still there on the stairs (1 week already!!!)

After I came home from church, I asked Austin about Cassandra... Today's topic: Austin's rival.. From his account, discovered that his LOVE rival is from his class and is an extremist... He painted his rival like a very very bad guy---eg. went detention class before and etc..... Also, there seems to be a blatant rival in the class.... Should listen to more of his story... Quite interesting... Anyway.. Took this photo of him when he was singing 'LOVE songs to Cassandra'

For dinner, I tried my hand at cooking... I tried preparing SOBA for the family.. Being an inexperienced 'cook', I did not know how to control the FIRE.... The boiling water keep overflowing to the STOVE!!!... So, I had to off the fire and on it again when the Boiling bubbles subsided... I keep repeating the process a few times until the noodle was ready... So troublesome... Only just discovered that I should have turn down HEAT...!!! Anyway... It is a lesson learnt....

So.... here is my masterpiece.......................

Some of the reactions of my family members regarding the SOBA

mother: quite happy... she apparently ate more than usual-claimed by her...

austin: as usual, so greedy.... and ate like an 'hungry ghost'..

Vivien: never give face... only tried a little, then went to make cereal for herself... she claimed that she don't like Jap food...

Where is the HDB cleanEr

How efficient are the cleaners of HDB????...

Last Sunday, while walking down the stairs of my HDB block, I accidently dropped my chewing gum on the floor... (It is still enclosed with the sugar coating, so will not stick to the floor)...

Today, while walking home, 3 days after that incident, I saw the gum is still there... Wonder how many more days will it stay there...

Sandy had A Diarrhea--- iN mY RoOm!!!

I was ‘alone’ at home this morning, with 2 ‘man’s best friends’. While I was bathing, Sandy, as usual, waited outside the bathroom patiently for me… After leaving the bathroom, Sandy followed me to my room… Then, I went about doing my daily routine..

After awhile, I went to the kitchen to get some water to drink… Noticed that dog’s ‘hygiene mat’ had a few patches of brown spots… Wondering what was it… When I went back to my room, I was shocked that the same patches were also found on my FLOOR!!!...

Hence, I have to clean the floor MYSELF!!! It was the 1st time in a few years I mop my own room… My first attempt was bad! I used too much detergent!! Also, I did not dry the mop sufficiently, so the floor became very wet and STICKY!! yucks!!

So, I went to remix a fresh detergent mixture… This time was successful.. YES!!! Anyway, when I was mopping the floor, Sandy keep moving to the region which I just cleaned… And worst, each time she moved away, she moved to another spot!!… So, I had to keep cleaning the same spots over a few times…

After cleaning the floor, I did something which I have never done before in my life—clean Sandy’s a**… Did this because the s*** was stuck to her fur around that region… Yucks... will not elaborate further…..

(pic taken of sandy after cleaning her)

Went to church today to help in the traffic control for the carnival… The weather was quite good initially. However, after about 20mins into duty, there was a sudden HEAVY DOWNPOUR... So, James Ong, our IC went to get umbrella for my partner and me…

After about 20mins into the rain, I could feel parts of my shirt was wet… The umbrella does not serve its purpose at all…. Then, I felt water dripping through the umbrella… WHAT!! To my surprise, I saw a few holes in the umbrella!!! Argh…. Oblivious that there was a few more umbrellas, I just stupidly endured with “hole-ly umbrella”… At the end of the downpour, I was almost completely wet!!!

Fortunately, the sun came out and eventually dried me up…

Other noteworthy issue of the day:

One of my friend visited my church’s carnival today, on the rational that she felt that God wants her to be there… She went to talk to a few strangers, including Gurmit Singh… Though I initially felt weird that her, a 20-year-old person attending a carnival catered for kids…
Anyway, a word of exhortation for her: What seems illogical to man may not be illogical in the heavenly realms… And, my friend, I salute you for taking a step of FAITH to do the ‘illogical’ upon prompting … This is FAITH!!!
